Our Story
Located at 348 Lockehaven Rd, Lockehaven Farm is a small family farm owned and operated by the Shipman family in Enfield, New Hampshire. Phil and Emilie Shipman moved here in 1986 from northern NH when they purchased the 15 acre woodlot that would become the farm.
In the mid 90's, the Shipmans hired a sawmill and used their own timber to make lumber for the first barn. We quickly outgrew the first barn and are in the process of upgrading (pictures below).
The farm itself has grown with the Shipman family. Now, a rolling 40 acres of forest and pasture and a small brook make up the hill on which the farm sits.
Recently, we have made a move towards raising heritage breed animals. These are animals that our ancestors swore by but were passed over in favor of cheaper, leaner, faster growing animals better suited for industrial farming. Frankly, we don't like this change and want to do our part to right the ship.
In the past, our farm has been home to Black Angus beef cattle. However today, we have pigs, horses, chickens, ducks, a dog, and barn cats.
